One of my newest completed pieces is, titled, "Cholita" which is inspired by the native women in Bolivia, called "cholitas". And I have alot of little trinkets from Bolivia, that inspire me, from their colors, to their clothing and the hats they wear. I wanted to make my only little cholita with the long braids an all. The original measure 8x10 inches and I have a print availble of her in the Etsy shop. I also wanted this to be bold and colorful, the background is a bright red (which has become my favorite color) with a light fading of orange and yellow, that is a little hard to make out in the picture.
Sneak peak of some of my new clay/ceramic pieces...think cute spanish peachy cheek cherubs...
Here is another sneak peak of my two newest clay and ceramics. The one above is of a little skull girl I made for fun with clay...stay tuned for a little movie I secretly taped of her walking around the house.. I love working with clay for fun, and made a bunch of new clay pieces.
And below is a little ceramic saint holding a cute little bird...I still have lots to paint on her...
I will keep you updated with all the new pieces. I have been working really hard on a few new paintings for the upcoming small art and craft show I am doing with the CT Etsy Team. A few of them are driving from all over Connecticut for this little art/craft show I am doing with them, so I really hope with all the work we have been doing, that we get a good group of people come in.
The place is called, "The Space" and its an amazing place, it is a non-alcohol music venue, for all ages, it has a coffee and sandwhich shop, and a vintage boutique, called "The Attic". I think a place of its kind should be created in as many towns and cities as possible. As someone who doesn't drink and doesn't particularly enjoy being in large crowds of people who drink just for the purpose of getting drunk, I think a place like The Space is a wonderful refuge if you just want to hang out, do something different, and listen to some new and local musicians ...well enough about that....sorry for that rant and rave ;)
Very nice Kim. I have a painting going on with red background, and I'll see if I change my mind about it. I love your chola and the beautiful painting. You always do such great work. Thx for sharing and have a great Sunday. Now it's off to mow a couple of lawns. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThey are all looking great Kim! I am excited to see what they look like finished :) xx
ReplyDeleteLove the painted ceramics. Can't wait to see the video of her walking around the house. Just found your blog today and just wanted to say that it was really cool and full of inspiration. Best wishes!
