Friday the 13th Special at Peachy Cheek

There are many theories on why Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day.

One theory, by author Charles Panati, one of the leading authorities on the subject of "Origins" maintains that the superstition can be traced back to ancient myth: The actual origin of the superstition, is a tale in Norse mythology.

Friday is named for Frigga, the free-spirited goddess of love and fertility.

When Norse and Germanic tribes converted to Christianity, Frigga was banished in shame to a mountaintop and labeled a witch.

It was believed that every Friday, the spiteful goddess convened a meeting with eleven other witches, plus the devil - a gathering of thirteen - and plotted ill turns of fate for the coming week. For many centuries in Scandinavia, Friday was known as "Witches' Sabbath."

To celebrate Friday the 13th I am having a special in my shop. Free shipping on everything and buy 1 Print get 1 free.

This day might not be so unlucky for you. Consider youself a little lucky today. I am giving away a "Flaming Heart" pinback button.

Do you always "knock on wood" after saying something you dont want to happen. Do you avoid walking past black cats?

Leave a comment and share your superstition (if you have one) and I will draw our your name on February 20th.

I don't beleive in all the tales of Friday the 13th., speaking which I just did a post on that as well, but I do knock on wood. I catch myself when I'm doing it. Crazy habit I guess. Take care and I love your art.

I know it sounds a little crazy but I still worry about breaking mirrors and I always tell someone to "break a leg" if they have a presentation/performance..:)
