chocolate chip cookies

I was in the mood to bake something and I haven't baked chocolate chip cookies in a long time, plus they are Yanni's favorite cookie, so I made some (4 dozen!) and a few had some walnuts.


I've tried a few chocolate chip cookie recipes, and this is by far our favorite. The cookies are slighty crispy on the outside and smooth and soft in the inside.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup  butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips (12 oz bag)
  • 1 cups of nuts or walnuts (optional)
  1. Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, mix butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in chocolate chips.
  2. On ungreased cookie sheet, drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart. ( I put mine on parchment paper)
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to cooling racks.

  1. Oh yummy, Kim!! I haven't baked in a while, well, since around Christmas...just too hot around here during the summer...the oven has a tendency to heat up the house. However, I told my hubby if we don't get refrigerated air conditioning by next summer, I'm moving into the Holiday Inn!! LOL

    . . .try some Sicilian cakes. . .Cassata, Sfinciuna, Cannoli, Minni di Vergine . . .Uhmmm too difficult to explain in few words, but
    Maybe try the worldwide famous sicilian "Frutta di Martorana" . . .they're made with Almond's flour & sugar, kneal them then create little fruit ( peach, tangerine orange, apricot, strawberry, red hot chilli and so on) and paint like really fruit with natural eatable colours. . .

  3. Hi Georgina! I completely understand about it being too hot to bake. It's been pretty rainy up here the past few days and its been cool, cool enough to turn the oven now. I hope you are able to get an air conditioner! You deserve to be nice, cool and comfortable!
