burgers and veggies

Nothing tastes better than grilling some burgers on a hot summer day. This weekend we grilled some burgers and enjoyed some grilled veggies. I like to think of my burgers as a clean canvas ready to be painted on with all sorts of fun toppings. I switch the toppings up each time.

All you need to do it prepare you favorite toppings, I like sliced tomatoes, avocados, pickles, onions and peppers.

Enjoy some yummy grilling this weekend!

s'more bar

When I think of summer nights, I think of s'mores. They are the ultimate summer picnic dessert. They are easy to make on top of a fire pit or grill. S'more bars make it easy for everyone to grab a topping and create their own s'more. Have fun and add some other chocolate like reese's peanut butter cups to put in the mix.

home made pizza

It's hard to find a good pizza place around me. We have so many, and we have tried so many, but none seem to fit what we are looking for. The sauce is to sweet, too much sauce, not enough cheese, the dough isn't tasty, too thin, too thick...So last night when I had no idea what to make, and I looked at what we had in the fridge, pizza came into my mind.

I grabbed two pita pockets and spread tomato sauce on them both, leave the edges alone.

Then, I added shredded cheese, I had a mix of shredded cheese and then added fresh peppers and onions and I had some grilled chicken pieces from the night before that I started shredding as a topping.

I put it in the oven at 375 and cooked it for about 12-15 minutes, until the bread was toasted and the cheese was melted.

It was one of the best pizza I ever had, it tasted so fresh. This is definitely something I am going to do  with leftovers and when I need something quick to make for dinner.

Enjoy!

new in shop

I have been working on a lot of new necklaces. I am inspired by bohemian summers and also added a tribal influence. Some are now available on the etsy site: http://theblackfeather.etsy.com

party backdrop diy

For your next party you should definitely think about adding a backdrop. Backdrops not only add an element of decor and color to the party, but make fun photo backgrounds.

Last week I had a fiesta themed birthday party and I thought a fringed backdrop behind the food table would be perfect instead of the plain wall.  I wanted the room to be colorful and bright just like the fiesta I was throwing. The fringe went perfectly with the pinatas I made. See how I made the pinatas here.

Choose your party's color theme and buy rolls of streamers. Party stores sell super large streamer rolls.

Next, cut the streamers to the length you need from the top of the ceiling to the floor.

Fold the streamer horizontally in half and cut small slits on the both the top and bottom to make the streamers fringe as shown in the photo above.

Next tape them in varying colors on the wall. I alternated some with fringe and some I just left uncut and twirled.

This was so easy and fun to do. You definitely need to do this for your next party!

Check out the fiesta here.

porch love

The deck needed some love, desperately. As you can see in the before picture, the deck was worn out and all it needed was some stain to give it life again.

This only took a few hours one weekend morning to achieve and it was well worth it. We also stained the wooden table too.
First, we broomed the porch and then washed it with a wood cleaner, Behr Premium All-in-One Wood Cleaner, let it dry and then began brushing the stain on, we used one gallon of Behr semi-transparent; in Redwood.

Now that the porch is stained, it's time to decorate. I really want to add a hanging hammock to one side. I found this beauty. I am planning on adding some new chairs, and some plants.

Thanks for stopping by!

spinach omelets at home

This weekend don't eat cereal or go out for breakfast, stay in and make this easy cheesy spinach omelet in your comfy pj and slippers. I promise it is really easy to make.

I coated a small pan with olive oil and I mixed egg whites and poured about a half an inch layer of the egg white mixture on the bottom. You may like your omelet thinner or thicker. And cook for about 7-9 minutes of medium, some bubbles may appear, simply poke them, sprinkle shredded cheese, once the cheese melts layer some frozen spinach over the cheese and sprinkled some more cheese over the spinach.

Once the bottom is golden brown, use a spatula and flip one side of the omelet up.

Enjoy it's cheesy goodness, and there's some spinach in it so you won't feel so bad.

Have a beautiful weekend!
