weekend recap

This weekend we went to a very large flea market to find some vintage pieces. I love savaging for vintage jewelry, which I take apart and re-use and re-construct for some pieces in my Black Feather line, so each piece is unique and most of the time one of a kind.

The flea market was situated right next to a beautiful lake. We walked and watched the birds and ducks get fed.

And we picked up trash that we found in the lake. Visitors come to the lake with bags of bread to feed the birds, and many bags end up in the lake. Plastic bags to not biodegrade, so they are forever in the lake, small fishes, turtles and the birds can suffocate or accidentally eat them.
It only takes a few seconds or minutes to pick up trash, and it makes such a big difference.

I have a person in the neighborhood who I admire greatly. I see him walking in the morning picking up small pieces of trash in front of everyone's homes that must have blew into yards. He's just doing his part to make sure our neighborhood/community is taken care of, we need more people like him.

Inspiration - Aztec Prints

I have been so inspired by Aztec and tribal prints lately. They have been inspiring artwork and jewelry I have been creating.

I made two outfits with fun tribal prints to wear for the day and night.

How To Make Unique Easter "Baskets"

This year for Easter I am making Easter Vases and Boxes instead of Easter Baskets.

I got some fun colored plastic eggs to fill with yummy chocolates and I got plenty of my favorite chocolates.

I used green shredded paper, you can also use green tissue paper, and I spread across the bottom of the glass canister.

I found these adorable little wind-up chicks.

I then had fun stuffing the chocolates and sweets in the vases/glass canisters on top of the green shredded paper.

I placed the cute chicks on the large eggs.

And finished them with big colorful bows! Happy Bunny Day!

black feather head chains

I absolutely love wearing my head pieces and within the past year I have seen so many celebrities and others have been also rock'n hair jewelry.

My head pieces are my favorite accessories in my Black Feather shop. They are versatile and make great pieces to wear when going out for the night. It's a little something unexpected and unique to wear. I am going to be adding many more head crowns/chains. They are all made with vintage pieces.
